In related news, more and more papers are cutting out their film critics, which means that we’ll see fewer obnoxious and unreadable collections of their “important” reviews in the future. I look forward to it: when the depopulation of the film critic community gets to the point where the only books on film criticism being published were written by Harry Knowles or Chris Gore, then maybe we’ll have reached a point of asking, as a species, “And why did we give these gimps our attention in the first place?”

i knew there was a liberal media conspiracy against mediocre writers and artists. no wonder i’m not getting published. so evil cabal that pynchon wrote about in v. is actually true.

but if they’re keeping bad books from being bought, more power to conspiracy.
