Hmmmm … I always thought it related to sarcasm or being sarcastic. That based on observations of its actual use on the internet in various forums.

After all, the Carroll reference aside, it’s not like it’s in Websters.

Aside from that, I really must retract something I wrote: no matter how careful they were, toilet paper made from anything to do with the Star Wars holiday Special would probably still chafe.

Paul, the same paper-coating technology that makes some of Larry Flynt’s publications spill-proof also makes Film Threat fireproof. It has to be soaked in gasoline for a week, then detonated.

As one who churned out features on classic fright flicks like I Married A Monster From Outer Space and Curse Of The Cat People for Fangoria, I can only applaud an action that will make my writing harder to find — a situation that all writers aspire to. And it can now be called “esoteric” and “arcane”.

While it seems a bit confused as if this was an intentional fire or just some folks acting like it was after the fact … assuming it WAS intentional:

No doubt these jokers would have been surprised that some utilities could make electricity (and a lot less pollution) by burning these (as the folks at TV Guide do). Or they could have been recycled into toilet paper (just think, you could’ve been wiping your butt on what once was a story about the Star Wars Holiday Special … and it wouldn’t even chafe). The worst that might have happened. Still, it was probably a “green” bonfire as I’m sure they bought some of Al Gore’s fraudulent carbon credits to cover the event.

Speaking as someone who's currently selling his writing portfolio on eBay, I wish I'd seen this sooner. Now if Starlog Press is doing this, when will we see the similar bonfire at Larry Flynt Publications for all of the backlog issues of Film Threat and Sci-Fi Universe?
