101 Reasons to Stop Writing

May is International Slushpile Awareness Month

This Month's Demotivator:

Disclaimer #1

It was bound to happen. Someone was eventually going to challenge me on my own writing experience. (I didn’t expect it to be Brutus.)

Now I have to be qualified to discuss stopping writing? Well, I’m an expert on that.

I’ve stopped writing on a number of occasions, for many different reasons. Specifically, #43, #87 and #91. I’ve stopped writing on page 2, page 12, page 70, page 113 (of different books). I’ve even stopped writing after the third draft.

I’ve never submitted a novel or short story for publication. Why? #101. It’s a showstopper.

One Measly Comment

  1. Challenge? What challenge? There was no challenge!

Quite the opposite: you know wherof you speak. We who have not stopped are but mere grasshoppers to your….uh…. bigger grasshopper? :)
